About

Michele Guastalla

I'm a full stack developer at Voiseed in Milan, where I work on an AI voice dubbing and synthetic speech platform serving around 20 languages and enterprise clients in fitness and gaming. As one of a handful of engineers, I own features end to end — from client-facing tooling and billing integrations down to the concurrency problems in the pipeline underneath. Before that I studied computer science at USC and Michigan, and published research on applying large language models to DDoS attack detection.

How I got here

Growing up with Italian parents in Ireland meant being surrounded by three languages — Italian, Irish and English — and left me with a real passion for continuously expanding my understanding of language and linguistics throughout my career. That has shown up in a lot of ways, from interning in Tokyo at 16 to the present day, working closely with machine translation and multilingual speech generation at Voiseed.

Both of my parents worked in video games, so I grew up around unreleased and unpolished builds that were simply there for me to play. I credit that with an early understanding of programming and bugs, and with the desire to take that interest further through my computer science studies.
